FAQ - Natural Tableware & Utensils

Following are a list of frequently asked questions for the

Natural Bamboo Tableware

  • What are these feeding items made of?

Our plates, bowls, and utensils are made from natural bamboo fibers, mixed with other plant-based elements such as wheat and rice husk, cornstarch and food-grade color powders.

  • Are they plastic-free?

Completely. Natural items – NO Gluten, BPA, Phthalates, PVC and NON-GMO – they are essentially made from plants.

  • Are they biodegradable?

Completely. They will become a pile of earthy mush in approximately 18-24 months after disposal.

  • They feel a little rough to the touch – is that normal?

Yes. These items are 80% handmade and no two of them are exactly alike. The mixing, edging and finishing are all done by hand. The earthenware-like touch and feel lets you know you are really getting closer to nature with these items!

  • I see some specks and streaks in my items – is that normal?

YES. These items are all hand-mixed, edged and finished. You can often see little specks of husk, spots or streaks of cornstarch. The finish and color are not as smooth or consistent as plastic, but this is because they’re not plastic! These are a grouping of all natural materials that blend very well together for a sturdy and plastic-free product. It’s all part of their unique look (no two pieces are exactly alike).

  • What is the maximum temperature these products can withstand?

Bamboo tableware can be washed in temperatures up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit or 45 degrees Celsius.

  • Do these items pass safety standards?

YES, we fully test these items against applicable safety standards for the U.S. and European markets, which are the toughest standards in the world. We’re parents too and would never bring a product to market that didn’t pass these kinds of rigorous standards.

  • How long will these items last?

Our bamboo feeding items should last from 1 ½ to 2 years. Eventually, water will find its way into the bamboo structure and will start to form spots or have some discoloration. This takes quite a while, but eventually, it will happen and this is when parents tend to stop using the items. After discarding them, rest assured they will completely biodegrade and hopefully, you’ll feel that a couple of years of plastic-free feeding and full biodegradability for US $4.50 -$10 was worth it! To get the longest use out of them, you can gently hand wash them in warm water.

  • Will they crack easily?

These items are sturdy and highly resistant to cracking when banged or dropped. It is possible to break them, but not at all easily. They are essentially a wood product, so they are not what we would describe as delicate items.

  • Will they stain with different color sauces?
If they do eventually, it will mean that liquids are finally starting to work their way into the fiber. This should take 1 ½ to 2 years to occur – but when it does you can discard them.

    • How do I clean them?

You can put them in the dishwasher (top rack), but they will probably last longer if you gently hand wash them. Hard, intensive scrubbing will shorten their life as well, but this should rarely be necessary. Don’t use items like - steel wool!

    Can I microwave these items?

Unfortunately Not - You can put them in the dishwasher (top rack).

Can I boil or steam them?

Unfortunately Not  - You can put them in the dishwasher (top rack).
